PROMOTIONAL SHOT: P-8 / CANBERRA / ANZAC CLASS … …
This render and framing from around 2015, gifted by the company to Tarek Tabbouche (name used with permission) on the occasion of his farewell from the ranks of the SAL. Tarek was a great colleague and friend, always ready and willing and able to debate and defend the relative merits of his favourite computer games … of which there was plethora!

This image/render can be found plastered all over the internet, and was at one time used by the prime minister’s office as part of a (formerly) Twitter (but now ‘X’) post …

The story behind the artwork - or rather how the artwork got stuck in a time-loop / IP loop - is interesting. Legal (at the Big B) had tied itself in a knot for well over a year: “We can ONLY use this image internally; we can’t release it, just in case it’s taken to literally be as seen here!” …

… “Guys, have you thought of adding ‘Artist’s Concept Only’ as a caveat?” … problem was solved!

APOLOGIES! for the (occasional) low-res image and reflections in the glass, it’s the best I have of this framed artwork!

The “FARE THEE WELL” Series - Over 2024-25 I reached out to a number of people who, over the years, have been in receipt of “farewell” artwork I was tasked with creating. Given that I’ve now ‘retired’, I’m able to showcase that work via their photos without any questions being asked.

All CGI, no AI. Software: Lightwave 3D + Octane render for the Advanced Super; Terragen for the background plate; Photoshop for post. The ‘ocean’ is a bump-mapped (no ‘normals’ used) single polygon (yep, you read that right) only. How’s that for ‘old school’?
